Water for Christmas…literally

November 18, 2012 by admin in Blog with 0 Comments

So you've probably heard the statistics: almost 1 billion people on the planet lack access to clean water. Every 20 seconds, a child dies from a water-related illness. People, in Africa alone, spend 40 billion hours every year just walking for water. The water crisis is serious, and unfortunately the statistics go on and on.

But there’s good news. The water crisis is solvable. To solve the world’s water crisis, though, would take a big number…more than $50 billion.

$50 billion. That’s a really big number, right?!

How about $400 billion? For most of us, that’s a number almost too big to even comprehend.

But just last year, Americans spent over $400 BILLION on Christmas. 400 billion dollars. Seems almost unreal, but it’s true. We spend a lot on Christmas. The truth is, though, for a small fraction of what we spend each year on Christmas we could solve the world’s water crisis by providing sustainable, life-saving water sources for those living without.

All these numbers and statistics can become overwhelming. So instead, we want to encourage each other to do something simple. We want people to consider trading consumerism for compassion this year by giving
Water for Christmas.

Just $20 can help provide clean and safe drinking water for one person. Just $20! That’s a dvd or doll or toy truck. $5000 can help provide an entire village with clean, life-giving water.

So as black Friday draws near and the holiday rush begins, take a minute to consider how you can make a big difference in someone’s life this year.

Change a life. Give Water for Christmas.
